Article 2 Notification of nuclear accidents 1. In case of any accident involving facilities or activities of either Party or of persons or legal entities under jurisdiction or control of the State of the Party, as stated in Article 1, Paragraph 1 of the Convention, from which a release of radioactive material occurs or may occur and which has resulted or may result in a transboundary release that could be of radiological safety significance for the State of other Party, the Party on the territory of its jurisdiction on which the accident took place, shall make an earliest possible notification to the other Party, and shall promptly submit all information available in accordance with Article 5 of the Convention. 2. The Parties shall promptly inform each other on any other accidents, other than those mentioned in Paragraph 1 of this Article, occurred on the territory of their States and may be the source of transboundary release of radioactive materials significance for the other Party in terms of radiological safety. 3. In case the radioactive monitoring system of either Party records an increasing of radiation level on its respective state territory, significant for the other Party in terms of radiological safety, which was not caused by release from facilities or activities on its state territory, this Party shall promptly notify the event to the other Party and shall continue to keep the other Party informed as the situation develops. |
